Speech of the President at the Second General Assembly
Regional Center for Education and Training Professions — Casablanca
Saturday, 1 November 2025

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
May peace and blessings be upon the noblest of Messengers.

Mr. Director of the Regional Center for Education and Training Professions — Casablanca,
Mr. President of the National Association of Moroccan Geographers,
Mr. President of the Moroccan Association of Geomorphology,
Mr. Representative of the Young Geographers Forum,
Mr. President of the Admer Association,
Mr. President of the Citizenship Forum,
Dear colleagues and members,
Ladies and gentlemen, researchers and professors,
Dear students, honorable guests,

It is my great pleasure, on behalf of the National Association of Moroccan Rural Geographers, to warmly welcome you and to express my sincere appreciation for answering our invitation to attend the Second General Assembly.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Our association was established in a national context marked by profound transformations affecting rural areas in Morocco — environmentally, socially, economically and territorially. This makes geography, in its scientific and applied dimensions, a strategic tool for analyzing changes, understanding spatial dynamics, and formulating development approaches suited to each territory.

While reaffirming the central role of geographic knowledge in building territorial and developmental policies, we strive to make geographic research a driving force for integrated and sustainable development, and to strengthen bridges of cooperation between the association, state institutions, local authorities and civil society.

Since its establishment, the association has accumulated scientific initiatives and academic partnerships aimed at expanding thinking around spatial justice, rural planning, natural resource management and sustainable development of fragile areas.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Our goal in the coming phase is to:

  • establish a national network for rural geographic research,
  • strengthen the presence of geographers in territorial and strategic discussions,
  • integrate scientific data into development projects aligned with the New Development Model and Vision 2035.

In conclusion,

I extend my sincere thanks to all partners, supporters and institutions hosting this meeting, especially Mr. Fadel, Regional Director of the CRMEF of Casablanca, and to everyone who contributed to this initiative — the members of the association's board, the coordinators of the national committees, and especially the preparatory committee.

I also renew our call for further cooperation and coordination among stakeholders to make rural areas a space for dignified living and sustainable development.

Casablanca, 1 November 2025
Mohamed El Assaad
President of ANAGERM
